AHA, Inc. is an organization which focuses on education and excellence, related to equine assisted therapy.   We are known for our two foundation courses: Level I Hippotherapy Treatment Principles and Level II Hippotherapy Treatment Principles, which offer therapists a foundation to get started in utilizing equine movement and the equine environment as a treatment strategy during a therapy session. We also offer a number of advanced, more focused courses that spotlight specific aspects of HPOT.  These are coined The connection courses, as they provide a link between a specific topic area and hippotherapy.

Under the Education tab on our web site, you will find the AHA, Inc. Curriculum Overview button.  Here you will find an overview of each AHA, Inc. course, it’s intended audience, any pre-requisites if there are any, and detailed course objectives.

The AHA, Inc. Level I Hippotherapy Treatment Principles Course requires all attendees to pass an online Equine Skills course.  To learn more about this course click here.  Many of the Connection Courses have prerequisites as well so be sure to click on the read more buttons under each course title for all the details.

It is recommended by AHA, Inc. that therapists who are considering incorporating hippotherapy into their practice pursue a specialized training.  AHA, Inc. has developed continuing education courses which emphasize safe and effective treatment.  A separate entity the American Hippotherapy Certification Board (AHCB), has developed two levels of certification for therapists: AHCB Certified Therapist adn Hippotherapy Clinical Specialist®.   Click here to learn more about this organization and opportunities through them.   If you have questions specific to their process please contact them directly.  Carol Huegel, PT, HPCS, is the current AHCB Board Chair and can be reached at hippopt@aol.com.

We hope to see you at an AHA, Inc. course or two this year!
